When you focus on the future you may wonder about what future we are heading for. The Bible is very clear about it. Ultimately we are heading for the Kingdom of God. One day Jesus will come back in Glory. He will sit on the throne of his father David and that throne stood in Jerusalem. He will rule among Jacob, which means Israel. And of His Kingdom, there shall be no end! We live in the days that we see the return of the Jewish people to the Promised Land. We see the restoration plan of God. He is restoring the Jewish people to the land of Israel. He is restoring the land itself, he is restoring the City of Jerusalem, and it is all preparation for the coming of the Prince of Peace, the King of kings and the Lord of lords who will bring in His Kingdom of peace and righteousness all around the world.
Now, what is meant by this Kingdom of God? Does it mean Heaven, does it mean earth? What does it mean? Were the Jewish people expecting a Kingdom on earth or in Heaven? How many and which phases of the Kingdom of God can we distinguish when we read all the texts in the New Testament about the Kingdom to come?
